Update on Hush Iced Production and Important Dates!

Hey Hushlers,

We want to send a quick update to keep our community in the loop about what we've been working on behind the scenes. 

Production Has Begun!

We are pleased to say production is underway and things are on schedule.

We don't have a shipping order based on who backed first, as some of you have asked. Since everything is being produced almost at once, it's simply up to how long it takes for freight to get to each location. 

Some international countries will receive directly via air. USA, Canada, and Europe receiving by boat and then shipped from their respective countries. 

Bottom line is we are still looking good for July delivery to your door!

Changes in Product Design

In some comments and a previous update, we mentioned a zipper possibly being added to one side of the blanket. 

Not only will this look and feel weird, it will also cause compatibility issues with previous blankets, and take longer to produce. It may also ruin the fabric, so we are avoiding this option and going back to the regular hooks and ties system we advertised on the campaign. We've added more ties though to keep it even more secure, and are double stitching everything.

For those of you that ordered just a cover ($52 reward level), and that have a Hush Classic blanket with zippers only inside, you were emailed separately about your options on what you would like to do. Please respond to the email or update your survey ASAP, otherwise you will get just the Iced cover that you ordered. 

Survey Updates and Important Dates

We are pleased to say that 90% of backers have already filled out their survey on Backerkit!

If you still have not, please make sure to do this ASAP or you will not get your blanket in time for this summer.

You can find your own survey by going to https://hush-iced.backerkit.com/ or by emailing [email protected]. 

The final date to change your address, survey, purchase more add-ons is this Friday, May 3rd. This is when we are locking orders and your choices on the survey will not be editable.

Your card will be charged for Backerkit (if you purchased anything extra) on Monday, May 6th, so please make sure to have the appropriate funds available in order to avoid declines.

Hey Hushlers!

Here's another quick update for you on a few important items.

Our growth during the last few days in the campaign was so rapid that we didn't even have time to come up with any perks to the blanket.

So we promised some secret improvements and products that would be announced post-campaign. 

Here they are!

Blanket Improvements

During the campaign we were secretly trying to work on a major upgrade to the Hush Iced. That is - eliminating the use of ties and hooks to secure the cover to the blanket. 

Our current Hush Classic blankets use a zipper on three sides, keeping it fastened to the cover. After 2 weeks of testing, we were told by multiple manufacturers and engineers that this would deform the blanket cover as it is too soft. 

Instead, we've decided to add a zipper to one long side of the blanket, and the hooks on the opening side and short sides (top and bottom). Although this costs us more per blanket, we know it would be an improvement that everyone would benefit from. 

Another upgrade is the quality of microfibre of the inner weighted blanket. Without going into too much detail, there are essentially three levels of microfibre in the fabrics market. While previously we were producing and testing with the middle level, we've upgraded everyone's blanket to the softest and most luxurious material available. This is due to our volume of production going up thanks to you!

Survey Sending Tomorrow + New Products

The post-campaign survey rolls out tomorrow! You may receive it on Monday or Tuesday as we send them in batches to test for glitches. Lookout for an email from us, and the website it will take you too may say "Backerkit" on it. This is normal. 

The survey pulls your information from Kickstarter and therefore knows how much you pledged, which reward tier you are at, which product you backed, etc. 

It then acts as a mini-store where you can spend that pledged amount as "credit" on your blanket and shipping which should even out to $0. Anything else you add to cart you will be responsible to pay for on the last step. 

That being said, we're pleased to announce some highly requested products from the Hush line, which you will see available on the mini-store:

• Hush Iced Fitted Bed Sheet + Pillowcases Set (made from the same cooling material!)
• Hush Iced for Kids (5lbs)
• Additional Iced Covers
• Hush Classic Blanket at a deep discount
• Popsockets and other swag!

Keep in mind everything you see on this survey will be heavily discounted for our lovely backers (you!), and they will not be available at that price on our website after the survey.

$10 Credit to All Backers

To show our appreciation for you all, we are crediting everyone's survey account with $10! Feel free to spend this on any of the items above, upgrading your blanket size, or using it towards your shipping (if applicable). 

This is our way of saying thank you. (Note: If you have a $10 balance at the end, this cannot be redeemed as store credit on our website or as cash or refund onto your card.)

Canadian Taxes

Our update on Friday seemed to cause some confusion, and understandably, some frustration among our Canadian backers. Please know this was not our intention. 

Although Kickstarter is an American company, since we are Canadian-based and selling and shipping goods to Canadians, we must charge sales tax and remit that tax to the Canadian government. This is standard for any online or physical Canadian store. 

We have decided to limit this to 5% which is the lowest provincial tax in the country, and we will eat the rest of the cost, even if this makes us unprofitable for some products. We hope this and the $10 credit makes it up to you. 

On the survey this will be seen as "shipping + taxes" as a separate line item, and it may mean you have a small balance to pay upon checkout.

If you are not satisfied, we will gladly refund your pledge. Just note that the Hush Iced is extremely discounted on Kickstarter, and if you buy it later on our website it will be at full retail price +  full GST/PST/HST for your region. 

We are also importing containers full of Hush Iced products into Canada and paying the duties on your behalf. So you will not incur any duty charges or further shipping charges. That's on us.

We did it! 

$1.1 million in funding and we could not have done it without you all. 

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every backer who showed their enthusiasm and trust in our product and team over the last 30 days. 

The positivity from everyone has been overwhelming and we are so happy to continue this journey with you!

What to expect now

Next week you will receive a customized link via email (post-campaign survey) which will allow you complete your order, including selecting your size, weight, add shipping information, pay taxes (for Canadians) and select any additional items! 

GOOD NEWS for international backers- we were able to significantly reduce shipping costs to the lower end of the spectrum that we originally estimated and for many countries even lower. You will see the final cost when completing your information on the survey.

Production and Delivery Timeline

We are still on track for shipping in July. Please respond as fast as possible to your survey when it comes in order to stay on schedule.

Hey Hushlers,

Hush Iced just passed over CAD $500k in funding, which means our first stretch goal is officially unlocked! The King size Hush Iced blanket is now available! 

Anyone who has already ordered a queen size can upgrade for free in the post-campaign survey we send you.

If you ordered a standard size, you can add CAD $20 ($15 USD) to your pledge to upgrade to the King Size.
